Numbers Don't Lie: 71 Stories to Help Us Understand the Modern World

Numbers Don't Lie is an interesting book. The subtitle accurately conveys what it is: many vignettes that collectively illustrate some facet about the modern world. They span many topics, from sociology, geopolitics, energy use, political power, growth, and more.

This approach would work in many forms. I could see this also effectively being a column in a newspaper, a blog, or short podcast. Each story is interesting, but the stories together don't necessarily contribute towards a larger picture of the world. I'd recommend this book as light entertainment and easy reading if you find this sort of writing interesting.
